Remember when Fred Wilpon said the goal was to play meaningful baseball in September?
This year, the Mets played like the goal was to get out of September as quick as possible.
The bad news machine just kept cranking throughout the month but yesterday was the capper. First the mets blew a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the 9th and lost...to the Nationals...on a WALK-OFF GRAND SLAM. K-Rod blew the game and while he took his lumps like a pro afterwards, it did little to ease the sting.
The only thing that could erase the pain...was more pain. The Mets also announced that Reyes had re-injured himself and now needs surgery. Loge13 reader Paul noted:
"Congrats go to Alex Cora for his new contract for 2010...His back-up will most likely be... Ray Ordonez...The tragic is back...."
Someday we will all laugh about this.
