— Days Without Shea —

Another round of Shea Stadium stuff is on the block for your bidding pleasure.

We may be scraping the bottom of the archive barrel here. For example, who is buying a CitiBank sign for $50?

And who else besides George Foster would be interested in a George Foster mounted photo, also for $50?

Still there are some cool items I would add to my collection if it wasn't for this pesky recession, these kids, that mortgage and such.

For example, a hot dog vendor box would be an awesome place to store guitar picks, kids lego's...even hot dogs.

Most impressive: A Mr. Met no smoking sign, in pristine condition, for $895. I got one in less than pristine condition, for much less than $895:

But with these prices, I'm getting me some Pine-Sol and a brillo and bringing that sign back to life.

this is a few steps below the bottom of the barrel. the auction back in July was the bottom. Anything I would have bought would have been then, or a year ago when I thought it would all sell out, but not now. It's clear this will go on forever or until they decide it's the dumpster (or another auction, which you know I'll be at). anything purchased, big or small, gets cleaned upon arival.

and was it me, or did I see a blog named after a part of Shea NOT write a post in tribute to Shea's finale on the last event's first anniversary?

Dyhrd you are quite astute. I did not write the 9/28 post as originally intended. But I choose to not observe that holiday. Instead, my sect recognizes February 18 as the date of death for the beloved Shea:
