So not only is Pedro Martinez playing meaningful baseball in October, he is starting Game 2 today against the Dodgers. Five months ago, no team would even give him a second look, at least not at the money Pedro was asking.
But Martinez is not the only ex-Met on the Phillies roster today. Miguel Cairo also made the cut. Cairo had started the season with the Phillies, but then got sent down to Triple-A in May. He was recalled in August and finished the year hitting .267 in 27 games.
Then there is Chan Ho Park, who got added to the roster Wednesday after Brett Myers was deemed too banged up to be effective. Park pitched a scoreless inning last night and may even get a start. Pedro and Park. In 2007, they were done. In 2009, they are playing for a chance at the big show. Go figure.
