I am presuming that thanks exclusively to Loge13, the Mets have broken down and offered partial ticket plans at Citi Field!
The Kingman clan received a letter in the mail today. It is the same letter that Rickey24 highlighted in the previous post's comments (thanks Rickey!). Here is a scanned version of the same letter we got, as found on baseball-fever:
Very strange offerings. Two 40 game plan packages? Why Five 15 game packages? We're looking forward to the details.
But the good news is that, according to the letter, each 2008 ticket plan holder will get a chance to buy seats. It doesn't sound like there's any seniority (i.e.: do folks with 25 years worth of tickets get to choose seats before folks who just bought a plan in 2008). But we'll find out.
Meanwhile, I called Ron Hunt to see if he got the letter. He didn't because he is in Wisconsin. He did drive by Shea on the way to the airport and was HORRIFIED by the site of our beloved Shea, coming down in pieces.
Sorry we couldn't save you old friend. RIP Shea Stadium. While we couldn't stop your date with destiny, I'm convinced Loge13's mighty readers did cause a karmic eruption in the Mets ticket office that led to today's surprise in the mail. There is only this left to say:
Do what I have been doing every season - just buy a ticket from someone outside the gate who has an extra seat. I have done this for playoff games and world series games. It never fails. And never, ever, park n the Shea lot.
