— Days Without Shea —

Welcome to the Jim from Joisey gallery this morning. Jim brought his "big lens" to Shea Stadium when the Mets played the Phillies and got some great close-ups of the players.

If you've been to Shea Stadium early in the past few months, you may have witnessed a rookie hazing ritual. New pitchers have been forced to walk from the dugout to the bullpen with a bubblegum-pink Cinderella back pack (or maybe it's Barbie - I have three sons so this stuff is foreign to me).

Back in August, I shot some grainy footage of Eddie Kunz getting hazed. Jim got a great shot of Jonathon Niese, paying his dues:

Shea Stadium bullpen perchDamion Easley is a big reason this team was able to stay in it through all the injuries and chaos of 2008. Now Easley is hurt and may miss his first opportunity at the post season - after 17 years of trying. Here's hoping Damion heals quickly:
