— Days Without Shea —

StatueofLiberty_0706081/2 game out of first.

Eight game winning streak.

A one-hitter against the Rockies today.

Ya Gotta Believe!

Loge13 pal John sent along this photo. This is part of the Statues on Parade exhibit going on this week before the All-Star Game.

Speaking of the All-Star game, there had better be alot of air time given to Shea Stadium at Tuesday’s event. There are two stadiums on the terminal list in NY, not one.

Before they christen the New Colossus that is Citi Field or shed tears for the old Colossus that Ruth built, please remember Shea – home to Seaver, the Beatles, the Jets, Andre the Giant, the Curley Shuffle and Grand Funk Railroad.

Do the right thing, MLB. Millions of Mets fans will be watching Tuesday.

I hope everybody - ahem - who was singing such gloomy songs of doom about the Mets just a few weeks ago will now learn to keep some perspective! The baseball season is long and almost always has twists and turns that will surprise us. The Mets had the talent this year, it just had to start clicking, and now it has. I'm still hoping that Shea will host its fifth World Series before the wrecking ball starts swinging in the fall!
