How bad is it going for Carlos Delgado? He has to get two hits in the same at-bat just to get on base. I've prepared a little chart for Sunday night's umpiring crew. Perhaps they can brush up on the home run rule before their next game.

Nice win by the Mets Sunday night. The important thing is not that they beat the Yankees. Badly. At home. Pummeling their ace in the process. No that is not important.

What matters is the mets played like the 2006 Mets for a weekend. Everyone contributed. Wright and Reyes stepped up their game. The starting pitching was solid. This is the kind of series to build on.

But to truly make this count, the Mets need to go down to Atlanta this week and continue this style of play. Are we going to see the offensive onslaught of Sunday? or witness the witless play of last Thursday's 1-0 Nats loss?

The Mets continue the road trip with a day/night doubleheader. Before we start affixing those old "The Magic Is Back" signs to Shea, lets see if this team can play some consistent baseball for a week. If necessary, Billy Wagner should address the media today.

looking at that play and all of the aftermath on TV, I think Willie could have checked the shoe polish on the ball to show that it actually hit the fair pole and would be a home run.
