Loge13 icon Ron Hunt sent along this news. Darryl will be back for the last year of Shea:
Darryl Strawberry is back with the New York Mets.
The former Mets All-Star outfielder returned to fill numerous roles with the team Monday, starting work as a special instructor during spring training.
Strawberry, 46, also will be involved in the Mets’ community outreach projects during the season.
“It’s great to come home,” Strawberry said. “Returning to the Mets in their final year at Shea is truly meaningful.
“This is where I got my start and where my heart is. I thank the Mets’ ownership, Omar (Minaya, general manager) and Willie (Randolph, manager), for the opportunity to be part of the excitement of the upcoming season.”
Strawberry, who appeared in seven straight All-Star Games from 1984-90, is the Mets’ all-time career leader in home runs (252), RBI (733), runs scored (662), extra-base hits (469) and walks (580).
Strawberry was a pivotal member of the Mets team that won the World Series in 1986.

Maybe he could play right field for us a little this year. Might be better than what we currently have out there.
