Somehow, the BlogsByFans network has overlooked one of the hottest sports in New York right now: the Westminster Kennel Club dog show.
I saw some of the contestants heading to Madison Square Garden Monday morning. These dogs were wearing more expensive shoes than me, and definitely had better haircuts.
And history was made last night when Uno, a 3-year-old, 15-inch-tall beagle won the hound group: the first beagle to do so since 1939. Way to go, Uno!
But the coolest clip from the show came from a colleague of mine, who runs a blog called Sportsbiztech. She went and shot some footage of the JOG A DOG treadmill. She writes:
JOG A DOG, a returning Westminster sponsor, provided four treadmills for competitors ranging from size small (for toy dogs like the Pekingese) to the new extra-large model, a 261-lb. machine that runs at speeds up to 10 m.p.h. Retail prices range from about US$1,100 to $3,000, and can be customized to include wheels, a gaiting bar and a timer.
Here is the JOG A DOG in action. The last pooch can’t quite figure it out (probably a Yankee fan):
