So MLB Trade Rumors apparently got punked.
The blockbuster rumor they posted (and to which we linked earlier) was a fabrication.
A’s GM Billy Beane actually was compelled to comment to the NY Post about the post. MLB Trade Rumors was contrite:
I guess I should be proud, right? It sounds like I was the victim of an elaborate hoax/impersonated sportswriter. If so I apologize - not sure why someone would go to such lengths, but lesson learned.
