— Days Without Shea —

ExplscanWe were in Loge13 in Shea Stadium last night. Pedro pitched well. That's about all you can say.

So we're tied for 1st place with the Phillies now. There's no point recapping last night's game, or how we got here.

We're here now. It's a three-game season. Let the games begin.

Other teams have slumped in September and won. The Cardinals lost 10 of 14 last September...and an 8 1/2 game lead. Then they won th eWorld Series.

The 2000 Spankees nearly squandered an 8-game lead, losing 15 out of its last 17 games in September. They went on to win the World Series that year too. (For the life of me, I can't remember who they played. It's as if I blocked that whole October. Strange.)

So Met fans, quit whining.

You Gotta Believe Perez, Maine and Glavine will give us quality starts. And that El Duque is available at any time to step in, if necessary.

You Gotta Believe our bullpen is going to pitch like they did last night and the not previous two weeks.

You Gotta Believe our offense just took the night off Thursday so they could rest up for a Marlins feast this weekend.

You Gotta Believe the Nationals are showing up to play this weekend in Philadelphia. Eaton pitches tomorrow and has been terrible. Moyer has slowed as the season has gone on.

We got our playoff tickets. There's a game Wednesday night. It's gonna happen.
