An ambitious car thief was busted on charges of stealing hundreds of side-view mirrors from cars parked at Shea Stadium, cops said.
Christopher Canale, 45, snatched mirrors from cars at the Shea Stadium lot, walked a few feet and sold them to the same auto shop - Ashley's on Willets Point Blvd. - at least a couple times a week, police said.
Cops executed a search warrant at Ashley's on Monday and found more than 900 hot side-view mirrors. Police think Canale, who has more than 20 prior arrests, stole most of the mirrors between July 1 and Sept. 17.
"He must have been a Yankee fan," a police source said. "A vain Yankee fan."
Canale, who was arrested Monday, was awaiting arraignment in Queens Criminal Court.
