The Diamondbacks came into town last night and faced a makeshift Mets squad.

Friday morning, David Wright awoke with back spasms. Meanwhile, Beltran is still nursing a sore knee after Thursday night’s collision against Giants first baseman Rich Aurilia.

So here’s the lineup that confronted DBack pitcher Brandon Webb:

J Reyes; SS
E Chavez; CF
D Easley; 2B
C Delgado; 1B
P Lo Duca; C
J Franco; 3B
D Newhan; LF
B Johnson; RF
J Maine; P

How’d they do? Not so hot. The Mets lost 5–1. The backup squad of Chavez-Easley-Franco-Newhan_Johnson went a combined 1–14.

Today, Jorge Sosa takes the mound. Beltran’s MRI was negative so he may be available to play. Wright also is day-to-day but should start this weekend.
