Beatles_Shea_POsterFor the Beatle fan – or Shea Stadium fan – in your life, here’s a gift suggestion:

ItsOnlyRockNRoll.com has announced their June 2 Catalog and Online Auction.

Among the items: only the seventh known example of the prized Beatles at Shea Stadium 1966 cardboard concert poster.

“The prospective acquisition would be a coup for ItsOnlyRockNRoll.com since we set successive world record prices for a concert poster with three copies of the Shea poster sold during 2004 and 2005 ($71,562.39, $72,970.30 & $132,736.52.)

…This was no ordinary Shea poster, but rather a never before seen variation. More specifically, what we discovered was a paper poster the size of a movie one-sheet. The 28 x 41” paper poster was produced by Murray Poster Printing Co., the same company that produced the cardboard posters. While Murray was also known for printing one-sheet movie posters for display in standardized theatre lobby display frames, the format was hardly suitable for concert posters that were usually displayed at the box office, placed in record store windows or stapled to telephone poles (incidentally, all three of our cardboard Shea posters were, indeed, pulled from telephone poles!)”

Note this is a poster for the second Shea appearance for the Beatles, not the 1965 show. The 1966 show advertised here was one of the Betales' last concerts ever.

“This time around, their all- time record payday of $160,000 from the previous year was shattered. Even though they played to an audience of “only” 44,600, the performer’s share was $189,000.”

This Shea poster is expected to sell between $50,000-$100,000 in the June 2 auction.

Loge13’s birthday has just passed but Father’s Day is only a few weeks away...if you care to splurge.
