— Days Without Shea —

GotayLoge13 had a few questions this morning after last night’s good loss to the Marlins: Will Willie leave Wright second in the lineup today? Will Heilman ever pitch a run-free 8th inning again? Which Oliver Perez will show up for the next game?

The Mets are in the 5th inning atm. Wright is hitting in his usual 5th spot today. He’s 1–3, with a strikeout and left 2 on base. And made an error.

Meanwhile, our favorite version of Oliver Perez has shown up at Shea. He has struck out 10 Marlins in the first 5 innings. The Mets are winning 3–1 at the halfway mark.

And Ruben Gotay is making his Met debut at 2nd base. We got him last summer from the Royals for Jeff Keppinger. Jeff was also known as “the other guy” in the Kris Benson trade. A few days after that trade, we were by the Mets dugout where Jeff was signing autographs for fans…most of whom kept calling him “Kris.” “I’m not Kris Benson” he would say, handing back signed balls, hats and scorecards. “Thanks Kris,” the fans would say. Then he walked away in disgust. Kris/Jeff Keppinger, we hardly knew ye.
