Tomseaver0140 years ago today, Tom Seaver earned his first victory. seven days after his first start.

On April 20, 1967. The Franchise went 7–2/3 innings and beat the Cubs 6 – 1, at Shea (Boxscore). Seaver gave up eight hits and one run, while striking out five. Only 5,379 people were there to witness the first of many victories for Tom

Eighteen years later, Seaver would notch his 300th victory, and he did it in New York, just like everyone expected him to. But he did it in *%&!ing Yankee Stadium wearing a Chicago White Sox uniform. Oh the humanity.

Like many Met fans, I remember watching this game and being torn up about what could have been. Bill White was torn up because Seaver ruined “Phil Rizutto Day.” So no one was very happy.

It was very classy of the Yankees to bring in Lindsey Nelson to call the final inning:
