The Mets were down to their final strike in the 10th inning. Billy Wagner had surrendered the lead after 9 innings of shutout baseball by El Duque and Heilman.
Before the at-bat, Damien was only 1–10 the whole year. His one hit: a 2–run homer against the Braves last Saturday.
Now he’s 2–11, with two home runs.
Easley’s blast Tuesday tied the game and kept the Mets in the game until the 12th. Then with 2 outs and Green on second, Reyes on third, Endy Chavez played small ball & fooled everyone with a drag bunt.
A big win that keeps the Mets in first place, a 1/2 game ahead of the Braves. Not that it matters so much in April.
Meanwhile the Endy Chavez love fest continues. What was that other thing he did? Oh yeah, this:
Loge13 was there and we (thankfully) forget what happened after that inning.
