The mets returned from the rain hiatus to humiliate the Phils 8–1 last night.
For all his complaining about the cold weather, Glavine is faring pretty well. He may not be dominating (walked 5, 6 hits in 6 innings, and hit Chase Utley) but he’s doing enough to get out of jams and to win his third start in four games.
Then again, he’s pitching against the Phils, who have been playing like their dog just died. There’s no focus, no fire, which is surprising ‘cause there are alot of good players (and Met killers) in that lineup. I expect we’ll be seeing a new Phillie’s manager the next time we play them. But unless he can also pitch out of the pen, it might not matter.
Meanwhile, the Mets turned three double plays and now lead the leage with 21 (The Phils are second with 16 double plays). The Mets are tied with fewest errors (4) with the Marlins, who we play tonight. Weather for tonight’s game: 64 degrees and clear skies.
