Since the boys were rained out, lets see how some ex-Mets did this weekend:
* Mike Piazza went 1–4 with an RBI today in the A’s 5–4 victory over the Spankees.
* In the same game, Doug Mientkiewicz got thrown out at the plate on a wild pitch with A-Rod at the plate, to end a Yankee threat that couldv’e blown the game open. Mientkiewicz may have been the slowest Met of the last 20 years; he shouldn’t be trying to score from thirs unless there’s a home run or a fatality on the opposing team. But I guess when you’re hitting .138 and fighting for your job, you’ll take those chances.
* Meanwhile in Colorado, Kaz Matsui earned a day off Sunday after going 2–3 in last night’s Rockie’s loss to the D-Backs. Kaz is now 5th in the NL with a .361 AVG and leads the leagues with his 3 triples. Kaz in Colorado – the love fest continues.
Matsui we hardly knew ye.
